Authors
- Presented in alphabetical order!
- Feel free to reach out, follow, connect, share, and support each other!
Book Partners: Zooms the 3rd Friday of each month at 4 pm EST
Goals
• Build a community of authors
• Each of us sell 25+ eBooks
• Receive potentially 25+ reviews
• Share best publishing/promoting practices
The Plan
Prior to each monthly Zoom, we will share the featured authors and their book links. Each week, five authors will have 10 minutes to share their:
• Name, location, and book title
• Book “elevator pitch”
• Top promotion tip/success
• Upcoming events
Then the entire group will purchase their eBook at the same time! Each author has one opportunity to speak.
You may request which month you’d like to speak.
Recommendations
• Have your eBook on Kindle, especially Kindle Unlimited.
• Sign up for Kindle Unlimited
• At each Book Partner Zoom, be prepared to order the books
• While you don’t have to read every book, be sure to scroll through—so the author is paid!
• Review as many books as you can!
• Invite other authors to join us — for every five who join, you get to speak again!

January 2026 — Book Partners
- From Kathy Ford: Consider becoming a Substack author.
- From Robert Sayre: They even pay sometimes!
- From DL Hammons: Consider creating short videos and posting to TikTok.
- From Suzy Gooch: I’m taking a few days and visiting every bookstore in Arkansas! I also invited 200+ people to my home for brunch, using Evite, which I also use for book signings. Also, check into holiday events in your town. Our Arkansas Holly Days is very profitable for me.
January 2026 – 6-Step Book Marketing Program: Step 4: Work with Our Launch Team
- From Eric Aquino: Consider hiring an event planner or public relations person, but not one who requires a retainer and months-long commitment. You can find ones that work per project. I work with Tiffany Sondergaardtiffany@tsbrandelevation.com. She is great and just this month booked me on:
- WFMZ TV
- PBS 39 Living in the Lehigh Valley
- Lehigh Valley Style magazine
- From Jennifer Bright: In January, are there any hooks for your book, such as New Year, New You? Also, January is a big book sales month because while people buy gifts in December, people SPEND their holiday money and gifts in January, often on books!
- From Patti Mobile:
- Ask everyone you know “Please post a review for my book on Amazon. You don’t have to buy a book there to review it.”
- Submit your books to libraries. Check their website or go into the branch and ask them to consider buying your book. You might have a better shot if your book includes reviews on the front cover, back cover, or inside and/or if your book has received awards. Also consider offering to do events at the library.
- Mary Frances Hill and I had our combined book launch at our local library.
- From Eric Aquino:
- When you go to libraries, ask to speak with the acquisitions librarian!
- Consider hiring an event planner or public relations person, but not one who requires a retainer and months-long commitment. You can find ones that work per project. I work with Tiffany Sondergaardtiffany@tsbrandelevation.com. She is great and just this month booked me on:
- WFMZ TV
- PBS 39 Living in the Lehigh Valley
- Lehigh Valley Style magazine
- From Jennifer Bright:
- Libraries are great places to hold book events! Often there’s no charge, but if there is, it’s likely small.
- One con of libraries is they usually only buy one copy of a book.
- Some pros of libraries is that they don’t return books! Also, people might see your book at the library, but then buy it for themselves or for a gift. Also they might read it from the library but review it!
- From Mary Frances Hill:
- A conference to consider attending is the New York Pitch Conference. I found it to be very valuable to learn about pitching, refine my pitch, and network. It’s around March 29, 2026.
- From Jennifer Bright: Consider joining the Greater Lehigh Valley Writer’s Group! It’s only $40 per year ($50 for new members). Each March they have a fantastic three-day conference, this year March 12-14, at Homewood Suites, Center Valley. Learn more here: https://greaterlehighvalleywritersgroup.wildapricot.org/
- From Eric Aquino: I’m starting a new podcast: What’s Next? it’s about how authors promote their books. Email me to be a guest! Eric Aquino eric@graystrong.org
- From Tara Aniano:
- I’m starting a Woman’s Circle to meet monthly at my home. We’ll talk about writing, poetry, publishing, and promoting books!
- I’m creating business cards with my book cover and contact info on them.
- I reached out to local schools to set up school visits and readings, and I’m creating a flyer for the school to send home with their students for their parents to order my book.
- To promote my book, I’m filming short videos of myself talking about it on the beach and posting to my new Instagram account.
- From Eric Aquino: Add a QR code to Amazon or your website to buy your book on the back!
- From Patti Mobile: Bright Communications author Andrea Foxcroft is a fantastic interviewer for her YouTube channel @FromShatteredToWhole. Consider being interviewed by her!
December 2025 – 6-Step Book Marketing Program: Step 3: Build Your Email List
- From Erica Anderson:
- Carry your book everywhere and whenever you can show it to people! They’re likely even to buy it!
- Give a copy of your book (or sell one!) to your nail salon, hairdresser, etc, and ask them to put it in their waiting area.
- From Mary Frances Hill: Consider putting out your first book as a test to learn from.
- From Roxy Johnson: Add your book cover, title, QR code to Amazon to your business card or postcard.
- From Patti Mobile: Join a writing group—or start one! They are all readers, and many of them are also writers.
- From Toby Stark: Identify Power Partners: entities that have large contact groups or emails. Share nuggets of info with them and ask them to share with their group.
- From Melinda Wilson: Hand out your business card at doctor’s offices—even give them a book for their waiting room.
December 2025 Book Partners
- From Presenter Kathy Ford: Author of Chrysalis
- Make business cards for my book. I made mine on Canva. On the front, I put my book cover, short description, and QR code to my website. On the back, I put a few quotes from the book. I carry them everywhere and hand them out.
- Sign up for Amazon Author Central. I also added the A+ content for my book.
- Consider a website. I have two: One as Kathy Ford author and one as Kathy Ford artist.
- Cross-market with other authors. I work with a friend in Florida, and we support and promote each other’s work.
- From Presenter Dayna Ault: Author of Who Made This Mess
- Enter your book for awards. Once you win one, you can forever call yourself an award-winning author.
- A benefit to independent publishing is to have greater control over your marketing.
- Take your book everywhere you go and show it to people!
- When you’re writing your book, make a list of all the ways, places, and methods you can use to market it.
- Be confident that your message is needed by someone in the audience.
November 2025 — 6-Step Book Marketing Program: Step 2
- From Patti Mobile: Look for book awards within your genre. BookAwardsPro is a website that can help you find the right awards for you. Hannah Jacobsen is the owner of the business.
- From Suzy Gooch: Email me at suzygooch1966@gmail.com to be featured on my book review Instagram page.
- From Jennifer Bright: Email me at jennifer@brightcommunications.net to be featured on my YouTube channel The Traveling Publisher or to be featured on author Andrea Foxcroft’s YouTube channel From Shattered to Whole—to share God stories.
